It is the mission of Lakewood Montessori to create citizens of the world, children who are intelligent, empathetic, and respectful, so that your children will be part of a happy and harmonious society.
We are privileged and pleased to embark upon this educational journey with you and your children. It is our wish to introduce ourselves so that we may begin a long lasting relationship with the shared goal of nurturing and enriching your child’s academic experience.
Intrigued by the joys of teaching, Mr. Sohail volunteered for 3 years and eventually became president of SEEK UT Austin (Student Engineers Educating Kids), a program that worked with underprivileged middle school students in the Austin area. His goal was to help these children develop a fondness for math and science through the use of hands on experiments and DIY 1 hour projects. After graduation, he continued tutoring students in calculus and chemistry at the University of Houston for many years. His hobbies include watching pro football and basketball, grilling outside on sunny days, looking for the next project around the house. His love for useless trivia catapulted him to television fame where he was a contestant on Wheel of Fortune. Sohail holds a degree in chemical engineering and is currently pursuing an MBA.
His celebrity caught the eye of his wife, Mrs. Sabrina, who aspired to be a writer after receiving her master’s in creative writing. Her love of literature and writing led her to teach university rhetoric and composition and English lit, where she found ways to make Shakespeare and Bronte appetizing to college freshmen. She endeavored to make the trials of Hamlet relevant to the youth of today and to instill confidence in each student in his or her own writing ability until individuals who had never written before were proudly calling themselves poets by semester’s end. Her hobbies include writing, reading and painting.
Sohail and Sabrina have three daughters and now Sabrina’s teaching is predominantly preschool in nature as she fashions lesson plans to provide them an early start with their reading and language skills.
Mr. Omair has deep roots in early childhood education. His commitment to teaching sprang from his love of learning. As a youth, he often gazed at the stars and took an avid interest in astronomy and biology. His interest in science led him to pursue a degree in biochemistry and his great regard for teaching led him to his first work as a tutor in many after school programs in elementary schools and at the local college. Since then, he has continued teaching with children of all ages, designing curriculum, and overseeing the proper implementation of the coursework for the students. As Omair’s passion for the sciences, mathematics, and technologies corresponds well with Montessori principles, he possesses a rich foundation of knowledge that is in perfect alignment with the Montessori method. His work as teacher soon led him to pursue director positions within schools where he married the art of lesson planning and teaching with the administrative responsibilities of staff management and general overseeing of an entire school operation.
We love our families, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
